Ways to Help
Young or old, alone or as a team or organization, there are many ways you can help by donating directly, volunteering, or hosting a food drive.
Over 90% of all donations are dedicated to fulfilling our goal of directly assisting those in need. The Peterborough Food Pantry is a program under the umbrella of Peterborough Area Community Aid, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization. Your donations and contributions are tax deductible as allowed by law.

Host a Food or Fund Drive
Check out these many ways to hold a food or fund drive!
It’s easy to set up on your own, or we can help. If you need assistance, please email info@pfoodpantry.org or call 603.924.3008 and we’ll be happy to help you get started.
Office Drives
-
Create incentives like having your coworkers donate 5 food items to be able to “dress down” on Friday.
-
Offer up a half day to the person or team that brings the most items.
-
See if your company would be willing to match cash donations, or match each food item donated with $1.
-
Create buzz. Send e-mails to everyone in the office and put up fliers in high-traffic areas such as bathrooms, elevators and bulletin boards
School “Team” Drives
-
Spark a spirit of competition between classes to see who can collect the most items or raise the most donations.
-
Have a pep rally to kick off the drive.
-
Give updates on who is winning the competition on a daily or weekly basis over social media or the PA system.
-
Have a reward for the winning class – maybe a pizza party or ice cream sundaes.
“Pop-Up” Food Drive
-
Announce it early, and send a reminder a day or two before the event
-
Make it a single day or week when you are collecting food items, and create a “countdown” reminding your group a few times so that they remember to bring their items.
Church or Organization Food Drive
-
Set up a temporary or permanent collection box for your attendees to deposit items. We are happy to help with pick up if needed! Call us at 603 924-3008.
Donate Food
Household Donations
We accept donations of non-perishable items at the Peterborough Food Pantry during hours of operation. In addition to canned goods, dry goods, and fruits and vegetables, personal hygiene items are always greatly appreciated as they are typically expensive and cannot be purchased by our customers using SNAP. Kindly date check any dry and canned goods to be sure they are not past their expiration date! Our pantry is located in the Peterborough community Center at 25 Elm Street Peterborough, NH across from Valley Tire and Auto and the Bowling Alley.
Shop at Shaw’s for the Pantry
Did you know there is a barrel at Shaw’s for Food Pantry Food Donations? Adding a few items to your cart as you shop to deposit in the barrel on your way out is an easy way to help and a great way to make the most of store promotions! Watch for our Food Pantry table out front, too, when we host our own food drives twice a year.
Watch for Other Food Drives
Local groups like the Boy Scouts and US Postal workers sponsor food drives throughout the year and will pick up donations left out for them. Watch for notices!
Food Rescue for Retailers and Restaurants
Save good food from being wasted! We can arrange to pick up dry, refrigerated, and frozen products, saving your business transportation and staff costs. For more information on making a food industry donation, please call 603.924.3008
